Born and raised in Long Beach, California, Dr. Eric Neilson attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology with High Honors before pursuing medicine at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, where he achieved Highest Honors. He returned to Los Angeles, CA, as a Family Medicine resident with an emphasis in Tropical Medicine, training in Cameroon, Zambia, Honduras, and India. After completing residency, he continued training in the Peace Corps’ Global Health Service Partnership, at the University of Dodoma in Tanzania while completing a Global Clinical Education Fellowship. He continues training physicians as an adjunct faculty at the University of Global Health Equity in Butaro, Rwanda. Dr. Neilson has received many teaching and community service awards and has participated in medical education research and faculty development.
