A diplomate of the American Board of Medical Microbiology, Dr. Sloma holds a PhD in immunology and post-doctoral fellowship in medical microbiology from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education, respectively. Dr. Sloma came to WAUSM after spending several years overseeing diagnostic testing at the Texas and Wyoming public health laboratories. Having worked in the academic, private, and public sectors of medicine, Dr. Sloma brings a unique perspective to teaching medical students foundational concepts of infection and infectious disease. Dr. Sloma has taught at several national and international institutions, including Becker Professional Education and Ross University School of Medicine and has a passion for helping her students achieve success. Her research has been published in various journals including the Journal of Clinical Microbiology and the Journal of Immunology. In addition to teaching, Dr. Sloma serves on WAUSM’s Curriculum, Pre-Clerkship, and Bylaws committees.
